To Pour or Not To Pour...

"Let us give praise to our maker and glory to his bounty by learning about... beer!"

So ends one of the greatest movie quotes of our time (Friar Tuck from Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, for those of you trying to place it). Yes, this blog is about the glory that is beer.

Now, I know there are many people out there who enjoy kicking back at a barbecue with a MGD or Bud Lite. I know people enjoy living the "High Life". And I know there are even more who think that drinking an import in a green bottle with an exotic sounding name makes them "cultured". This blog is not for these people.

This blog is for those who hunger and thirst for more... for flavor, for body, for a beer you can sink your teeth into. This is all about the wonder that is Belgian Beer. Belgians are known worldwide for their brewing abilities, producing some of the finest, oldest, and most renowned beers on the planet. We'll explore as many as possible, from hearty Trappists, to Abby Ales, to the purest, crisp Pils.

Before we get into the actual beers, though, I'd like to talk about beer in general, what makes the different brews what they are, and what the anatomy of a good pour is. Once we've laid the groundwork, I'll start (attempting) to review a beer a week, including pronunciation, so you can order with confidence.

My next post will talk about how beer is made, and include a bit of history about the brewing industry. Join me as we discover all about the greatest beverage on our green Earth!
